- The applicant for the Motor Vehicle Fire Credential Endorsement must currently possess the IAAI-FIT® or IAAI-CFI® credential before applying.
- The applicant must have a minimum of three (3) years of specific experience of fire investigation which shall be directly involved with the investigation, and documentation of motor vehicle fire events. Sufficient documentation to support experience claimed, such as employment records or letters of certification from employers documenting work experience.
- Have completed a minimum of 26 hours of tested training, which must include:
- CFITrainer.Net - Investigation of Motor Vehicle Fires (4 hours)
- CFITrainer.Net - Motor Vehicles: The Engine and the Ignition, Electrical, and Fuel Systems (3 hours)
- CFITrainer.Net - Motor Vehicles: Transmission, Exhaust, Brake, and Accessory Systems (3 hours)
- IAAI Motor Vehicle Fire Investigation Course (16+ hours)
- Provide documentation of meeting minimum requirements including experience, training, and education. Supporting documentation can either be contained in a transcript or on a course certificate.

To obtain the Member discount rate, please login to your www.firearson.com account. A non-Member may choose to join IAAI prior to filing the IAAI-FIT® application. Once you have submitted the application, it will be reviewed by the IAAI-FIT® Committee. If the application is approved, you will then be provided with instructions on how to take the examination. If the application is not approved, you will be advised of the appeals process.
