Advanced Fire Dynamics 3.10-11.2026 KY

This course provides an in-depth examination of fire dynamics as they apply to determining fire origin and cause. Emphasis is placed on understanding the scientific principles that govern fire behavior and applying those principles to real-world fire investigations.

Participants will develop a comprehensive understanding of compartment fire dynamics, including fire growth and development, heat transfer mechanisms, pre- and post-flashover conditions, and heat release rate (HRR) curves. The course also explores ignition competency and its critical role in accurate cause determination.

Foundational fire dynamics concepts are directly linked to fire pattern development, with instruction focused on recognizing, interpreting, and properly applying fire patterns to identify the area of origin in a scientifically defensible manner.

Hands-on training is integrated throughout the course and includes flash point testing, flammability testing, small-scale compartment fire experiments, and a full-scale compartment fire burn. Fire dynamics equations are introduced and contextualized, with practical examples demonstrating how these calculations can be applied during fire scene analysis and investigation.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Cancellations received 31 days or more prior to the course start date are eligible for a full refund of the registration fee.

Cancellations received within 30 days of the course start date are non-refundable.

Registrants who are unable to attend may, at the discretion of the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI), substitute another eligible individual from the same organization, provided written notice is received prior to the course start date.

Failure to attend a course without prior written cancellation (no-shows) will not be eligible for a refund.

All IAAI courses are subject to cancellation or postponement at any time due to unforeseen circumstances. Registered participants will be notified as soon as possible.
