Nothing has impacted the ﬁre investigation community more than the continued development of the NFPA documents 921 and 1033. Every 3 years a new edition of NFPA 921 and NFPA 1033 is released with important changes. In this training session, you will hear from David Smith, former Chapter and IAAI President and NFPA 921 committee member since 1992. David possess decades of experience in fire/arson investigation. We are very fortunate to have David as a chapter member and an NFPA 921 committee member. David will speak about the recent developments and changes to the 2017 edition of the NFPA 921. He will also discuss the significant impacts the NFPA 921 and NFPA 1033 documents have on ﬁre investigators who present their ﬁndings in the courts.
Objectives: The course shall cover the changes as stipulated in NFPA 921, 2017 edition. It will be presented in a 1 day, 8-hour format that will include PowerPoint presentation and open discussion. This course is essential for fire/arson investigators, attorneys, para-professional legal staff, SIU professionals, insurance claims professionals and crime scene technicians looking to certify, re-certify or enhance their investigative knowledge in the ﬁre/arson investigative ﬁeld through knowledge and understanding of the cornerstone of our profession, NFPA 921 and 1033.
