This is a great foundational and fundamental instructional class.

IAAI Evidence Collection Technician Certification Practicum** (IAAI-ECT) Separate Registration Required

If you are taking the IAAI-ECT Practicum
IAAI-ECT Certification Fee $280 for IAAI members or $490 for Nonmembers – (you get to attend the class for free)  
If you—Join IAAI ($120 IAAI and Montana Chapter Dues), Member price for cert=$280 the cost for Membership and training =$400. This is less than the Nonmember certification cost
** To take the ECT test you must…
1) Fill out Application (found at) https://www.firearson.com/Training-Credentials/Certifications-Designations/Evidence-Collection-Technician-IAAIECT.aspx
2) Send that Application in to the IAAI prior to class
Items needed for ECT Application
Have a minimum of 18 months of general experience in a fire investigation related industry
Have collected 12 items of forensic evidence (must be supported with documentation)
Complete a minimum of 29 hours of tested training, including the following mandatory classes from CFITrainer.Net®:
o DNA (3 hours)
o Documenting the Event (4 hours)
o Ethics and the Fire Investigator (3 hours)
o Evidence Examination: What Happens at the Lab? (4 hours)
o Introduction to Evidence (4 hours)
o NFPA 1033 and Your Career (2 hours)
o Physical Evidence at the Fire Scene (4 hours)
o The Practical Application of the Relationship Between NFPA 1033 and NFPA 921 (2 hours)
o The Scientific Method for Fire and Explosion Investigation (3 hours)
The test consists of correctly collecting pieces of evidence.
