Course Description

Wildfires have become a regular feature of the western U.S. landscape, one we have grown accustomed to. They have gone from burning remote areas that have little impact on the lives of those in states like California, Oregon, or New Mexico, to decimating areas with higher population sizes. The impact of these massive fires can be seen and felt as far east as New York City as the Dixie Fire smoke from this summer contributed to the lowest air quality rating in the city since 2006. This course will train a fire investigator on how to identify overhead utility equipment, teach them how that equipment works, and finally what kind of impact it  can have, positive and negative, in a wildfire investigation.
