Texas Farm Bureau Insurance-Special Investigator/Certified Fire Investigator

Minimum certification as an IAAI-CFI & Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience. Possess, or ability to obtain Claims Adjuster License from the Texas Department of Insurance.
 
Under limited supervision, conducts extensive and detailed investigations of fire losses, to include the scene investigations for the determination of origin and cause.
• Independently develops and executes appropriate investigation strategy for assigned cases. Leads in-depth interviews of witnesses, claimants, or other pertinent individuals.
• Evaluate, collect, package, and maintain evidence in accordance with industry standards.
• Completes detailed and extensive investigations in accordance with National Fire Protection Administration (NFPA) standards and procedures.
• Communicates with claims and subrogation personnel as appropriate.
• Maintain active membership(s) with appropriate fire investigative associations.
• Liaison and maintain relationships with law enforcement and fire department agencies in appropriate coordination in the investigation of fire losses. Engage with NICB and TDI as needed.
• Provides fraud and fire related training to Company personnel. Serves as a resource to claims personnel. Provide external training as appropriate.
• Prepare referrals and submission of suspected criminal activity to NICB and TDI.
 
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree plus 3 to 5 years of fire investigation (NFPA 1033) experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of education.
• Possess and maintain NFPA 1033 standards. Ability to work under NFPA 921 Guidelines
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills
• Certified Fire Investigator active through IAAI.
• Possess or ability to obtain Texas Claims Adjuster License
• Travel required
• Physically demanding working conditions
 
Location of assignment statewide within Texas, with preference for central/south Texas.
Relocation expenses will not be paid.
