Job Description:
As a Fire Investigator, you will be doing full-cycle fire investigations which include:
• Investigating the origin and cause of fires
• Interviewing witnesses and suspects and conducting follow-up investigations including detection, apprehension and prosecution of arson suspects
• Providing expert testimony in court for both criminal and civil cases
• Preparing extensive detailed written reports systematically documenting the cause of a fire in all cases that are investigated by the FIU and preparing reports and statistics for owners, fire departments and other agencies

This position is eligible under the PSERS plan in the WA Dept. of Retirement System. Applicants who are retired from the LEOFF plan may elect to decline membership in PSERS and continue to collect their LEOFF retirement payments while working in this position.

Compensation: $35.16 - $44.56 Hourly

King County Sheriff's Office is seeking a highly trusted advisor to lead its Fire Investigation Unit. In 2017 we investigated 365 fires and closed double the national average of cases. This unit has a strong foundation and is primed for a new leader to continue to expand upon existing successes.
 
Job Description:
As the Assistant Fire Marshal you will be:
• Leading a team of highly skilled Fire Investigators
• Providing a coordinated fire safety program for the citizens of King County in conjunction with ATF and local fire districts
• Managing fire investigation services and relationships with the cities that contract with King County, in addition to serving unincorporated King County; facilitating increased contracts and scaling operations accordingly
• Strategically maintaining, reviewing and ensuring the accuracy of statistics; providing information in a manner that tells an effective story
