Central Lyon Fire-Fire Inspector 1 or 2

Fire Inspector I

Under the supervision of the Deputy Fire Marshal, the Fire Inspector I is responsible for performing the following duties: field inspections of new and existing structures for building code compliance; issuing corrective actions for fire and life-safety violations; assisting with review of building plans and fire system plans and specifications; assures compliance with fire prevention codes; responding to major emergencies within the Fire District; assisting with fire cause and origin investigations of structure and wildland fires; developing and presenting fire prevention and Community Risk Reduction education programs.
 
Salary and Benefit Information
• The salary range is $ 61,839.00-$74,453.00

Minimum Qualifications/Conditions of Employment: (current valid certifications)
• ICC Fire Inspector 1 certification
• Current CPR certification
• Nevada Driver’s License (class C) within 30 days of appointment

Conditions of Employment:
• Successful completion of ICC Fire Inspector II certification within one year of appointment.
• Successful completion of ICC Fire Plans Examiner 1 certification within 18 months of appointment.
• Successfully complete the National Fire Academy's Fire Investigation Essentials course (R0772) or an approved equivalent course within two (2) years of appointment.
• Maintain current minimum qualifications for employment including Nevada Class C driver's license.

Desired Qualifications:
• One (1) year of experience with a local or State jurisdiction inspecting public, commercial, and residential structures for compliance with applicable fire codes after attainment of NFPA Fire Inspector I or as a Fire Inspector I with the ICC
• Experience in construction trades
• NFPA Firefighter II
• NFPA certification at the Hazardous Materials Operations level
• Nevada State and/or National Registry: AEMT or Paramedic
• AA Degree
• Hazardous Materials Technician
• NFPA Fire Service Instructor 1
• Incident Management Team experience
• Geographic Information System (GIS) experience
• Experience in Training Division, Administration, and/or human resources
• Nevada Driver's License w/ F endorsement


 
Fire Inspector II

• NFPA certification at the Hazardous Materials Operations level
