Message from Michael A. Schlatman, IAAI-CFI, Chairman, IAAI Election Committee

Voting for the election of an IAAI Second Vice President, four members of the IAAI Board of Directors and a member of the IAAI Foundation Board will open Wednesday, March 1. It is extremely important that you exercise your right to vote.

We believe it is your obligation as a member to participate and elect the most qualified candidates. Please do not leave the direction of this Association to chance.

Voting Instructions:
  • Please make sure your membership is current. If it is and you have difficulty accessing the ballot, please contact Chris Burt at the IAAI Office 800-468-IAAI. Note: Only Active and Lifetime Members have voting privileges.
  • You will receive the ballot once, and once you have voted you cannot return to change a ballot.
  • Voting will end at Noon Pacific Time on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 prior to the Annual General Meeting at the ITC in Las Vegas, NV.

Barry M. Grimm (NJ)

Qualifications:
I have dedicated thousands of hours to the NJ Chapter and have the energy to continue to do the same for IAAI.

Qualifications:
I was employed in Public Safety for over 30 years and served in supervisory positions for many years. I have been involved in fire investigations since 1991 and I am currently employed as a senior fire investigator. I am dedicated to fire investigation and the mission of the IAAI.

Qualifications:
My almost 40 years of experience have allowed me to have unique experiences. I have experience in both the public and private sector; which have unique perspectives and legitimate issues. My experiences with the NFPA 921 and 1033 committees have provided me with invaluable experience in the efforts to raise the bar of professionalism within fire investigation. The tagline for the IAAI is "Global Leaders in Fire Investigation." To be the "Global Leaders," we must continue to advance science, methodology and professionalism. My experiences with these committees have allowed me to assist in accomplishing the goal of global leadership.

Qualifications:
Over 33 years of public service and proven leadership abilities in the fire service and the IAAI, is just one of the many reasons why I am qualified. I have had the ability to increase membership, within the chapter and the International, not only in Kentucky, but Ohio, Indiana and Tennessee, creating training opportunities including the FIT program, Court Room Testimony program, and the KY Chapter has the lead role in fire investigation training for the Kentucky fire Commission.

James Kuticka (MO)

Qualifications:
After completing numerous chairs at the Chapter level, including 2 terms as President, a 1 year term as a substitute IAAI Director, and currently serving a 3 year term as IAAI Director, the experience has given me greater leadership skills and the ability to understand how this organization works and the needs of our membership. I have served in law enforcement, volunteer firefighter, and have been a fire investigator for 41 years. I understand the needs of this Association and our membership.

Qualifications:
I've served as a public sector investigator and testified as a subject matter expert, acquiring a unique perspective for the practice of law. I became an attorney to protect our profession, to bring science and law together to seek the truth for fire/explosion events. The culmination of my life's work has prepared me for this IAAI Director opportunity. I can offer extensive experience in the forensic investigation and litigation arenas, a tireless work ethic, and an uncompromising commitment to uphold the public trust, all of which I believe make me an idea candidate to help manage the IAAI's corporate business.

Qualifications:
I joined the IL-IAAI 21 years ago, the International 14 years ago and am currently active in both organizations. With the IL-IAAI, I have served on several committees including: Chair and Co-Chair of the Training and Education Committee for seven consecutive years, Director for three years, Vice-President for four years and currently serving my second term as President. Under my leadership, the IL Chapter was presented with the James L. Smith Outstanding Chapter Award for 2015. I currently sit on the IAAI Insurance Advisory Committee and assisted the site-selection committee for the 2014 ITC.
