Why Should I Become a Member of the I.A.A.I.?
According to a Harvard Professor, the number of bowling leagues in America
have shrunk by 40% since 1980. At the same time, the number of bowlers has
increased by about 10%.
The professor concludes that Americans enjoy the activity, but are
increasingly reluctant to get involved in groups or associations that require a
commitment of their time and effort.
As Chairman of the I.A.A.I. Membership Committee, it is my responsibility to keep
all members informed of how "I.A.A.I. Membership has its privileges". Furthemore I
want to solicit the input and active participation of every member beyond the 30
seconds it takes to write a dues check.
What We Have To Offer
I.A.A.I. consists of approximately 9,000 of the best fire investigation
professionals in the world, united by a strong commitment to the suppression of
the crime of arson. Each member receives a Membership Directory that lists all
other Association members, Successful use of this investigative tool just once
can justify 10 years of I.A.A.I. dues. We also conduct an Annual Seminar and several
regional seminars each year to provide the latest information and technology in
the profession to our members.
Our publication, "The Fire and Arson Investigator," contains articles by some
of the leading experts in the profession, and is mailed quarterly to each
member.
The St. Louis home office is compiling a library of reference materials that
members can access. And speaking of access, the home office can now be reached
by mail, phone, fax or internet.
We also administer the Certified Fire Investigator program in an attempt to
ensure a least common denominator body of knowledge in the field of fire
investigation.
Lastly it should be noted that I.A.A.I. works in cooperation with other
associations and law enforcement agencies to prevent and suppress the crime of
arson, including the US Fire Administration, the Federal Emergency Management
Agency, The National Fire Academy, the International Association of Fire Chiefs,
the Insurance Committee for Arson Control and many others.
What You Have To Offer
In addition to your dues, you have something else to contribute (namely your
time in the form of active participation on one of our many conunittees, and
your ideas on how we can improve services to our members). If you can think of
any ways in which the Association can improve operations and serve you better,
please contact me or one of the other Officers or Directors.
If you are interested in applying for membership please go to the
application page and fill it out.
